Pushing the edges of traditional sex therapy.

"Marc is a sex therapist,
this is his confessional."

This is the tag line of my movie unshamed, a documentary on sexual fantasies.

In a post-screening discussion in London last week, an audience member asked a good question.

- How do I reconcile the use of the words “Sex therapy”
when the work I do feels so far away from traditional sex therapy models.

Good question.
I made this clip to share the answer with you.

In summary:

Our traditional models believe that trauma informed practice and interactive, explicit sexual acts should remain separate.
And while I do respect these frameworks, I also feel called to challenge them.

I believe in the power of creating integrated spaces : where mutual sexual practice can coexist with trauma informed awareness and deep psycho-somatic work.

It’s radical for our time, but it is not new...
Sex shamans and sacred prostitutes have been doing this for thousands of years, long before ideas of trauma or clinical sexology existed.

They were the ones who:
- walked between worlds.
- could hold sexually charged spaces without flinching.
- moved between instinct and consciousness.

But beyond historical story-telling,
I believe it because I have seen it:

- in the way people’s faces change,
- their breath expands,
- they stand taller,
at the end of a session.

In October I will be teaching Sex Shaman, Sacred prostitute, a training on this more alternative way of imparting sexual healing.
